Canada's main political parties include promises for the cultural sector in their platforms. In referring to pledges for increased support to the Canada Council for the Arts, Arts Advocate publisher Micheline McKay told CBC "Those are big, big successes of the cultural sector in this campaign for sure. If 2008 taught us anything it's that you ignore these things at your peril."
